The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and the Nemours Physician Practice for the Delaware Valley is seeking a transformational, innovative, strategic and collaborative academic physician executive to serve as the new Physician-in-Chief (PIC) for one of the country’s premier Magnet designated, children’s care delivery systems which includes, a 400 member physician group, 21 primary care practices and 10 ambulatory specialty centers in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Nemours also provides pediatric services to 10 community/academic hospitals within the Delaware Valley. The hospital serves as the Pediatric Department of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.
This position is a critical physician leadership role for the Health System, leading the largest physician component and serving as a member of the Health System Executive Leadership team, and as such is able to influence the organization’s direction in a significant manner. The successful candidate should have the requisite skills, behaviors, and organizational enculturation within 2 years to be a highly competitive internal candidate for leadership succession and advancement. Paired with their Florida counterpart, the position will be a strong voice in setting clinical direction and priorities for each market and the overall system. PIC priorities will be ensuring an engaged, aligned physician faculty, inclusive of the recruitment and retention of tomorrow’s luminaries to support current and future signature program development.
Candidates may present with strong academic credentials in general or pediatric subspecialties. Common will be a track record of executive leadership and significant operational accomplishments in complex, exemplary environments. They should be comfortable leading multiple, simultaneous initiatives and advancing enterprise strategy and performance.
