The Department of Pediatrics within Wake Forest School of Medicine/Brenner Children's Hospital is seeking a dynamic leader as Section Head for General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
We desire candidates with proven leadership and excellence in clinical care, education, quality improvement and research. Candidates must be board-certified in General Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine and have or be eligible for a North Carolina medical license. The candidate is expected to participate in clinical care, education of trainees, research activities, and administrative responsibilities, including mentorship and career development of junior and mid-level faculty.
General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is a strong section and composed of 14 pediatricians across all ranks. Clinical care provided by the section includes the primary care clinic, which is a patient-centered medical home for an under-served population with more than 19,000 outpatient visits annually; newborn nursery; child protection team; pediatric rheumatology; and an innovative, comprehensive care coordination team for children with medical complexity. All faculty are active in clinical research or scholarship and educational activities, in addition to clinical duties.
Priorities for the Section of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine include mentoring faculty; developing and enhancing innovative patient care, education and research programs; and collaboration. The candidate must have experience in developing and growing clinical programs, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and academic stature as an established clinical investigator or educator. Demonstration of scholarship is required. The position requires educational skills and experience necessary to precept residents and medical students.
