The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Palliative Care physician to serve as Medical Director of Palliative Care at Children’s Hospital, N.O. Position will be tasked to further develop, expand and lead the Pediatric Palliative Care Program at the hospital.
The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. We have approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience.
Qualified applicants must be board certified/eligible or equivalent in Pediatrics, have Fellowship training in Pediatric Palliative Care or equivalent work experience, and be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before start date. Excellent communication skills are required. This is a challenging and interesting position involving teaching responsibilities with medical students, residents and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center and Children’s Hospital is in the midst of a 5 year and $300 million expansion project.
MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
Board certified/board eligible or equivalent in Pediatrics
Fellowship training in Pediatric Palliative Care or equivalent work experience
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana before start date
