The Division of General Inpatient Pediatrics at Penn State Children’s Hospital, Department of Pediatrics is seeking to hire a full-time pediatric hospitalist to join the division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The successful candidate should have > years of post residency practice experience as as hospitalist or finished a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine. The candidate will have the opportunity to practice inpatient pediatrics in our new 72 bed free-standing Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital opened February 2013. He/she will join 14 other academic pediatric hospitalists with clinical experiences ranging from 1-20+ years. Our group is highly diverse and includes physicians trained in categorical pediatrics, Med-Peds from programs all over the country. The position will require 20-30% of clinical activities be devoted to providing overnight in-house resident supervision and education. The candidate will be expected to teach and evaluate medical students and residents. The candidate must be willing to pursue credentialing at our local affiliate institution (20 minutes away) where our division provides inpatient pediatric services also with house staff supervision. As a member of an academic division(s), at an academic medical center, there are ample opportunities to initiate and participate in scholarly projects. There is also the unique opportunity to enroll in our institution’s Junior Faculty Development program. This is a mature program designed to assist junior faculty in the development of a project that can lead to a successful and fulfilling academic career. Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital is located in Hershey, PA, and is located near Harrisburg. Hershey is a safe, family -friendly location with access to excellent public schools and a reasonable cost-of-living. Hershey is approximately 90 minutes to Philadelphia and Baltimore and less than 2.5 hours to Washington, D.C. Review of applicants will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should either be BC/BE in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics. Past clinical experience as a hospitalist or completion of a hospital medicine fellowship preferred. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.
