The Department of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor to act as the Medical Director of the New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Pediatrics Practice.
The New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medicine Pediatric Practice is situated within the #1 Children’s Hospital in NYC, and is part of the Ambulatory Care Network of NYP. The Medical Director is the leader of all the medical aspects of this practice, which is the major site for resident and medical student training in pediatric and adolescent primary care at NYP-WC.
The practice has a strong mission of coordinated care and care management, reflected in clinical services for the medically complex patient, a program for pregnant and parenting teens, a comprehensive obesity prevention and management program, and co-located mental health services. The Medical Director is responsible for the direction and growth of these and other programs serving the children of New York City.
The Medical Director will oversee all aspects of medical care in the NYP-WCM Pediatric Practice, including attending medical staff, nurse practitioners and residents who have their Continuity Clinic at this site. The Medical Director has direct responsibility for the education of the residents in the practice, through didactic teaching, quality improvement training, and supervision of direct patient care. The Medical Director works in close conjunction with the Administrative Practice Manager to ensure the highest quality of care for the children in the practice. The Medical Director also works as a liaison between the subspecialty practices at this site and the ACN leadership.
The Medical Director reports to the Division Chief of General Academic Pediatrics, and is an integral member of the leadership team of the Ambulatory Care Network of NYP.
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
•New York State license, Board certification in Pediatrics
•At least five years of clinical experience
•At least five years in a position of leadership
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•Excellent management skills, both results and process oriented
•Experience with programs in Quality Improvement/Value Based Practice, Medical Education and Patient Engagement/Satisfaction a plus
