The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a General Pediatrician for an academic faculty position. Position based primarily at Our Lady of Angel Hospital (OLOAH) in Bogalusa, LA. OLOAH is located approximately 30 miles from the cities of Covington & Mandeville in St. Tammany Parish on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The region is one of the fastest growing area in the State of Louisiana and is close to New Orleans. It offers good transportation, superb school systems and low crime rate. Incumbent will join a well-established pediatric practice that is the primary teaching site for the accredited LSUHSC Rural Family Medicine Residency Program. Clinical duties will include both part-time clinic and inpatient coverage and Level 1 Nursery.
The Department of Pediatrics at LSUHSC is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. We have approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience.
This is a challenging and interesting position involving teaching responsibilities with medical students, residents and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center.
MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
Board certified/board eligible or equivalent in Pediatrics
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana before start date
