St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced AVP of Medical Affairs. The qualified individual will ensure quality and safe delivery of medical services at St Mary's Healthcare System for Children; plan, initiate, organize, and evaluate programs and services, in partnership with other disciplines, to maintain standards and improve quality outcomes for the organization, while complying with regulatory guidelines; and participate in organizational strategic planning process, assisting in the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities will include the following: Identifies need for improved services, or new services and develops solutions for such. Implements new programs/services. Acts as primary educator for full time, part time and consulting medical staff. Ensures staff compliance with laws, regulations and codes. Serves on pertinent System Wide Committees. Provides guidance and leadership that Quality Improvement/Assurance goals are established and met within established time frames. Establishes standards for physician credentialing Provides direct communication with families and children, as needed. Interfaces with clinical and other services on interdisciplinary delivery system. Leads medical inquires and other investigations, as needed. Develops and executes control to meet budget targets. Supervises, delivers and coordinates medical care to medical services patients, including admission history, physical examination, routine medical care, and the development of interdisciplinary care plans, discharge plans and discharge orders, and discharge summaries in a timely fashion. Provides back-up coverage for on-call medical staff and may occasionally be required to provide on-call . Enhances system wide academic and research work. Developments, implements and evaluates Medical Services policies and procedures. Assists, or assigns designee to assist the Admissions Committee in determining appropriate admissions to SMH affiliates, based on established criteria. Develops and maintains collegial and collaborative relationships with local referring institutions as well as local, regional, national and global colleagues in the field.
