Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine And Additional Faculty Positions
Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, is currently recruiting a Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Children’s is a vibrant, free-standing pediatric teaching hospital and Nebraska’s only full service pediatric specialty health care center focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical and outcomes research, and advocacy. The hospital is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth to address our local, regional, national and global patient care. The hospital has a Level IV Regional NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Specialized Clinical Pediatric Services, and 24/7 Pediatric Intensivists. We have 50+ Specialty Clinics, 200+ Specialists, 14 Satellite Offices, multiple Pediatric Fellowship programs, and is Magnet Certified. Our new campus expansion plans include an additional 100 beds to the existing 145, expansion to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Fetal Care Center and Fetal Surgery, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Center including dedicated intensive care, Short-Stay Observation Unit, Emergency Department, and Surgical Services. The expansion will also provide new facilities to support education and clinical and outcomes research.
The Division Chief provides overall clinical leadership for all components of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PED). In addition to the administrative responsibilities of this position, the individual will share in the clinical responsibilities with the ten full-time faculty and the additional contracted physicians, as well as 10 Advanced Practice Providers. The successful candidate will be Board Certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine with strong clinical and leadership experience. This leader will be responsible to develop and implement the clinical, educational, academic, research, and advocacy goals of the institution for PEM. The Division Chief will represent Children’s Hospital & Medical Center leadership for issues affecting Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates will have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. He/she will have administrative, academic, and clinical practice management experience within a complex, pediatric tertiary care medical center. We seek individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way at all levels of the organization and university.
All faculty hold positions at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. We are seeking to increase our number of faculty significantly to address the planned expansion for the rapidly growing Pediatric Emergency Department (PED). The expanded PED will include a flexible, pod-based design and will have specialized capabilities to manage complex trauma patients, behavioral health patients, patients with highly contagious diseases, and immunocompromised patients. Children’s is an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center. With Children’s broad range of specialty and subspecialty services, the ED patient population encompasses a wide range of illnesses and injuries. The PED plays a key role in medical student and individuals interested in clinical, basic science/translational research. Allocation of protected research time will be based on the candidate’s research activities and record of academic accomplishment.
