FACULTY POSITION: The University of New Mexico, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is seeking a full time physician for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Faculty. This physician will help to support and advance a thriving clinical program, an excellent PEM fellowship, and a strong community research program.
Our facility is the only pediatric emergency department in New Mexico. We have an annual census of 23,000 visits per year. The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is also the single tertiary care facility and Level 1 Trauma Center for the state.
We are a PECARN research node and have a growing multi-state telemedicine program. We lead multiple community preparedness programs and research efforts throughout the state through our EMSC funded “Child Ready Program.” We are particularly focused on strengthening pediatric emergency care in tribal and rural areas of New Mexico.
Our Department of Emergency Medicine has 65 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is also home to an outstanding EM Residency, EMS Academy and Center for Disaster Medicine. The University is located in the beautiful mountain west at the intersection of unique and diverse cultures. Minimum requirements: The successful candidate will have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and be Board certified or Board prepared in Pediatrics and sub-boarded in Pediatric Emergency Medicine with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency and fellowship in a Pediatrics and Pediatric EM. Must have a State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification at time of hire.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong clinical skills in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates should have experience in teaching and a strong interest in clinical or administrative leadership.
