IMMEDIATE OPENING: Board Eligible/Board Certified Child Abuse Pediatrician Driving Distance to Bay Area, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles
Valley Children’s Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare networks, is seeking a second BE/BC Child Abuse Pediatrician to join The Guilds of Children’s Hospital Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, California, recognized in Central California and the state as a leader in advocacy, injury prevention, clinical research and academic training.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a caring, patient-focused physician to join a collegial team in busy practice servicing 11 counties in the Central Valley. We’re seeking someone with great vision and passion for their work as well as an interest in research. Here you will have the chance to become an instrumental part of growing this generously endowed program.
The Guilds Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center is composed of the Child Advocacy Clinic, which operates five days a week and sees over 1,000 children each year. The team is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day for emergency coverage. The Center includes an inpatient component that evaluates about 100 children yearly in the pediatric emergency department, acute-care floors and the pediatric intensive care unit. These children are evaluated for suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. The staff includes a board-certified child abuse pediatrician, nurse practitioners specialized in child maltreatment, forensic nurses, social workers, a center coordinator and support staff.
Through the diligent efforts of the Guilds of Valley Children’s Hospital, a generous endowment of $5 million was presented to the Center to ensure the program’s growth and longevity. The Center continues to expand, adding more staff as the need arises. Valley Children’s Hospital and The Guilds Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center share the same philosophical objective that all children have “Futures Worth Fighting For.”
This beautiful 358-bed facility is one of the 10 largest free-standing children’s hospitals in the country and occupies a 50-acre campus on the bluffs of the San Joaquin River just north of Fresno. In addition to the main hospital, the campus also contains medical and professional buildings, a heliport, and sits next to the Ronald McDonald House. This impressive facility offers a 106-bed NICU (including regional satellites) and a 38-bed PICU.
The city of Fresno offers a truly affordable cost of living and is located in the heart of the state in the central San Joaquin Valley of California. With a metropolitan area population of over 1,000,000 in the 2010 census, Fresno represents the third-largest metropolitan center in California and an area that abounds with fine regional and ethic restaurants, as well as a vibrant night life. Its symphony, local theater companies, music and dance productions distinguish Fresno as a city with access to a wide variety of cultural events. Fresno is the only city in the United States with three national parks in its backyard: Kings Canyon, Sequoia and Yosemite. Families will love the friendly neighborhoods and excellent schools. Fresno also provides comfortable day trips to San Francisco, the California Coast and the Los Angeles area. If you want to experience the best that California has to offer, there’s no better place to live.
This is an exceptional opportunity for professional development and personal fulfillment in an area that presents an outstanding quality of life.
