Hennepin Healthcare System Inc. (HHS) seeks a Chief, Department of Pediatrics who will be responsible for the strategic development of the department’s clinical programs, and for the leadership and professional development of the department’s faculty and staff. Will serve as the academic leader of the department, and is responsible for ensuring the recruitment and retention of faculty to achieve Hennepin Healthcare’s mission. The Chief will establish and continue to enhance the department’s education experience for residents, fellows and medical students from the University of Minnesota and other affiliated institutions. The Chief will also continue to advance the department’s participation in mission-relevant research.
The Chief of Pediatrics manages the department budget, sets physician compensation and oversees the department’s academic mission, quality of care and continuous improvement. Together with other department chiefs, the Chief will play an instrumental role in enhancing Hennepin Healthcare’s commitment to excellence in translational and clinical research, as well as to high quality of clinical services. He/She must also ensure patients receive adequate access to care, while fostering a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to care delivery that promotes safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable and patient-centered care.
In conjunction with Service Line and Care Ring Leadership, the Chief plays a critical role in developing a vision for pediatric services and programs which will aid in the determination of growth opportunities for the department. Additionally, there is an opportunity to continue relationships with existing partners, such as the University of Minnesota, which could result in novel and innovative approaches to patient care, education and research.
The Department Chief of Pediatrics shall be expected to serve 10 years with a check point after the first five-year term.
M.D., M.D. /Ph.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school; Board certified in Pediatrics; Minimum of five (5) years administrative leadership experience at the institution, department or section/division level; Licensed or able to gain licensure in the State of Minnesota; Eligible for academic appointment at the University of Minnesota Medical School; Full time (>0.75 FTE) member of Hennepin Healthcare with unrestricted clinical privileges customary for a physician practicing in his/her specialty; Research experience
