The Advanced Practice Nurse – Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric Nurse) provides primary psychiatric assessment and management of patients with co-morbid medical disease and mental illness. As an independent Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the State of Illinois, provides initial psychiatric consultations in all settings in the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC). The APN will assess and manage using advance diagnostic skills, interpreting results, and prescribing psychotropic medications as approved by the medical staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Mustbe licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain license two (2) weeks prior to starting employment.
Mustbe licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse or have the ability to obtain license two (2) weeks prior to starting employment.
Mustobtain a DEA license within six (6) months of hire. (If already obtained, must provide proof at time of interview).
Mustobtain an IL Controlled Substance License within six (6) months of hire. (If already obtained, must provide proof at time of interview).
Master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing with a concentration in the field of Psychiatric Nursing is required. (Must provide official transcripts at time of interview).
Mustbe certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). (Must provide proof at time of interview).
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the area of Psychiatry is required.
Local travel is required, must possess a valid driver's license and insured vehicle or otherwise provide an acceptable and reliable means of transportation. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
