The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist to serve as a subspecialist in Pediatric Interventional Cardiology. This position is based at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory was recently renovated and is equipped with a Philips Allura Xper FD 10/10 system, 3-D rotational angiography, echonavigator, IVUS, ICE with CT/MR overlay and ImageStream local media manager. The Heart Center faculty includes a team of 13 full-time pediatric cardiologists with subspecialty expertise in Adult Congenital, Pediatric and Fetal Imaging, Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardiac Intensive Care. In addition, the Heart Center staff includes three Cardiovascular Surgeons.
The Heart Center is proud to be part of the only freestanding Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and Louisiana, and the top academic heart program in the state. It has recently received divisional leadership commitment by a nationally-known pediatric cardiologist who will join the faculty in May of 2019.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (non-tenure or tenure tracks), and will be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in interventional cardiology through an advanced fellowship (or equivalent experience) in these areas. The physician is expected to be able to perform, supervise and teach both diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterizations including those involving angioplasty, stent placement, transcatheter valve deployment, and shunt device closure. The physician is expected to collaborate and work with cardiac surgeons, cardiac intensivists and cardiologists in the Heart Center. Children’s Hospital resides in New Orleans’ historic and vibrant uptown area. Our campus is currently undergoing a $300 million physical revitalization and transformation which will house not only a new Cardiac Intensive Care Unit but two new Cardiac Catheterization Suites to be completed in early 2020. Simultaneously, the hospital is expanding new multispecialty outpatient campuses in the city and region. The Heart Center program provides services for patients throughout the state of Louisiana, including 260 CV surgeries, 275 cardiac catheterizations, 5000 ambulatory visits, and 5500 ECHOs annually. There is a dedicated 20 bed CICU with dedicated in-house attending coverage. The incoming catheterization specialist would be responsible for helping to integrate interventional cardiac services and resources into the new Children’s Hospital clinical infrastructure.
