The UAB Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is actively recruiting for faculty positions at all levels of rank and academic track. Candidates focusing on careers as physician-scientists or clinician educators will be equally considered. A track record of quality investigative work and program development is preferred.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide ambulatory and inpatient care including bronchoscopies, management of invasive chronic ventilatory support, and multi-specialty outpatient clinics. Strong clinical demand and an expanding division will offer the new faculty member an exciting array of opportunities to participate in its growth and development.
The division offers a full array of clinical services and programs, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. All aspects of pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine are represented including comprehensive programs in asthma, aerodigestive disorders, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, home ventilation/technology dependent, sickle cell-related pulmonary complications, and general pulmonary clinics. There are also nationally accredited centers for cystic fibrosis (CFF), neuromuscular diseases (by both MDA and Cure SMA), primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD Foundation), and sleep (AASM).
Research is active with a world-class CF program housing a CF Basic Research Center, a CF Therapeutics Development Center, and a TDN National Resource Center. The division is also a member of the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Center Network. Education and training are exemplified by two active and long-standing fellowship programs in Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, and by the Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC), a Title V training program funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration.
Successful candidates must be a licensed MD, DO, PhD or MD/PhD and board certified in pediatrics and board certified/eligible in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and/or Sleep Medicine. Physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities, must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and nicotine screen and background check.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate and will consist of a guaranteed salary as well as a generous incentive plan linked to productivity.
