Physician-in-Chief: Primary Care, Urgent Care, and Population Health
Southcoast Health
New Bedford, MA – Southcoast Health is seeking a transformational physician leader to serve as Physician-in-Chief: Primary Care, Urgent Care and Population Health (PIC). One of the largest health systems in Massachusetts, Southcoast Health is a not-for-profit organization that was created in 1996 as the result of the merger of St. Luke's Health Care System in New Bedford, MA; Charlton Health System in Fall River, MA; and Tobey Health System in Wareham, MA. Southcoast Health also includes Southcoast Behavioral Health in Dartmouth, MA, which is a joint venture with Acadia Healthcare. The hospitals, which operate under a single license, amounting to 815-beds, provide a full range of primary/secondary services and selected tertiary services such as open-heart surgery. The PIC will ensure that the Southcoast’s primary care clinical programs provide coordinated, efficient, high-quality care to patients in all care center locations and across the continuum. He/she will understand and practice clinical medicine, articulate the vision of Southcoast Health as a regional leader in primary care, and motivate and lead others in shared improvement and growth efforts. The PIC will have clinical oversight for primary care services across the health system, including all primary care services and urgent care facilities. He/she must be strategically and operationally focused on allowing the care centers to flourish clinically, and for the health system to increase its reach as the provider of choice in a competitive market throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This leader will help coordinate efforts to lead Southcoast Physicians Group in a shared approach to population health, interfacing with Southcoast Health system wide, and will set goals moving toward a more highly integrated model of care with standard workflows aimed at improving the health of communities. The primary care group will lead the way towards integrated care and will partner with Southcoast specialties as they continue to improve care for patients across the Southcoast Health. The position is best suited to an innovative, collaborative individual who is interested in leading, teaming and bringing people together around a common set of goals. A variety of physician leadership backgrounds will be considered, with the unifying theme being the collaboration across primary care disciplines to advance care transformation within Southcoast Health.
