The Department of Pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a biostatistician who is interested in a full-time appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the level of Assistant Professor. The applicant should have advanced training in research methods and biostatistics, as well as experience in collaborative research with academic pediatricians.
Responsibilities •Work with faculty, fellows and other trainees to design, to conduct and to analyze a variety of research studies as well as conduct independent work •Analyze many types of studies including clinical trials, observational studies and laboratory-based studies. •Teach collaborators how to do simple analyses •Present talks, seminars or other oral presentations on methodology and analyses used in scientific studies •Participate in the preparation of manuscripts that are submitted for peer reviewed publication
Qualifications •PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or equivalent •Broad and thorough understanding of statistical principles and clinical trial methodology; able to practice and implement them •Able to develop innovative/creative statistical/technical solutions to complex problems •Broad knowledge of medical/biological terminology and clinical practice in relevant areas •Effective communicator: able to explain methodology and consequences of decisions in lay terms; able to understand requests for complex analyses, etc. •Effective team player; willingness to go the extra distance to get results, meet deadlines, etc •Able to manage many projects simultaneously, to manage conflicting priorities, and to be flexible when priorities change •Leadership skills in proactive strategy setting, adapting to changes, conflict resolution, and effective partnership •Grant writing experience
Appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Investigator Track at the Yale School of Medicine is anticipated, based on experience and qualifications.
