Clinician Educator Positions Available General Academic Pediatrics, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh 1) Complex Care Center – Outpatient Physician 2) Primary Care Center – Continuity Clinic
The Division of General Academic Pediatrics (GAP) at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seek two new faculty in the clinician educator track to work: 1) with children with medical complexity (CMC) within the Complex Care Center (C3), and 2) in the Pediatric Primary Care Centers in Oakland and Turtle Creek.
Complex Care Center (C3): This position is open at entry or mid-level in the non-tenure stream. The C3 is housed on the main campus of CHP in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. The C3 is dedicated to care of pediatric patients with significant medical complexity including technology dependence. An ideal candidate will have experience caring for CMC and a strong interest in improving care to this vulnerable population. Responsibilities include ambulatory clinical sessions and teaching medical students and residents in the outpatient setting. On call is shared with all other members of the C3 team and involves phone coverage.
Primary Care Centers (PCC): This position is open at entry or mid-level in the non-tenure stream. The position is based at our PCCs in the Oakland and Turtle Creek neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, PA, which care for a diverse pediatric population. An ideal candidate will have fellowship training, an MPH or MS degree, chief residency or significant clinical or teaching experience, and a strong interest in improving care to underserved children. Responsibilities include ambulatory clinical sessions and teaching medical students and residents in the office setting. On call is shared with all other members of the Division and involves phone coverage, evening or Saturday morning acute care appointments, and weekend coverage of the newborn nursery.
The PCC and C3 are housed under the Division of GAP. The Division has a distinguished reputation for (1) excellence in clinical care in the outpatient and community settings, (2) a record of academic achievement in medical student, resident and fellow education (recipient of the Academic Pediatric Association 2009 Outstanding Teaching Award, HRSA-funded T32 Fellowship Program, and (3) well established, diverse and high impact clinical research activities (~5 million/year in NIH support). CHP is consistently ranked among the top 10 children’s hospitals in the US and is one of the fastest growing department of pediatrics in the country.
