Our 12-12-12 Family Medicine residency is seeking a Pediatrician for a hybrid hospital attending and clinical role. The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited pediatric residency program, be board certified/board eligible in Pediatrics and possess a passion for provision of care for the underserved and educating residents. Waco Family Medicine Residency, the oldest Family Medicine residency west of the Mississippi, is operated by Heart of Texas Community Health Center, a large Federally Qualified Health Center caring for nearly 60,000 patients. We pride ourselves on our dual mission: to provide equitable, evidence-based, holistic medical, dental and behavioral healthcare for the vulnerable and to train the best Family Medicine residents in the nation. Our full-scope, unopposed, and community-based Family Medicine residency is the oldest west of the Mississippi and ranked in the top 2% nationally.
Faculty and clinical responsibilities include: Provision of direct patient care in outpatient continuity clinics and teaching, supervision, and evaluation of residents in outpatient clinic and hospital settings such as the newborn nursery, level 2 nursery and pediatric ward. This will include leading rounds and bedside teaching, entering attending notes, supervising procedures, and monitoring interactions with consultants. Additionally, the faculty member will provide structured teaching experiences for residents and medical students through methods such as lectures, discussion groups and case conferences. They will participate in faculty meetings, conferences and in faculty decision-making processes. Finally, they may supervise mid-level providers in the outpatient setting. Collaborative research opportunities are available through our close relationship with Baylor University.
