The Heart Institute (HI) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) seeks applications for a BE/BC Pediatric Cardiologist with additional sub-specialty training in advanced imaging with a specific interest in academic fetal cardiology.
The HI is an internationally recognized academic center of excellence for Pediatric (congenital and acquired) and Adult Congenital Cardiac Care, and clinical and basic science research. The HI incorporates the Divisions of Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Molecular Cardiovascular Biology. It offers the full range of Pediatric Cardiac services within a free-standing not-forprofit tertiary care medical center. The HI also serves to train categorical Pediatric Cardiology and sub-specialty fellows in all areas of congenital heart disease practice (including 1-2 fourth year Advanced Imaging fellows). Academic appointment within CCHMC is through the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
The Cardiac Imaging team performs approximately 15,000 transthoracic, 500 transesophageal and 2200 fetal echocardiograms on an annual basis. The facility includes a state-of-the-art reading room as well as the necessary technology to perform all current advanced imaging techniques. The Fetal Heart Program serves a diverse patient population through hospital-based services, outpatient clinics and telemedicine review. Furthermore, the Program collaborates closely with the other specialties within the Cincinnati Fetal Center (CFC), an international leader in fetal diagnosis and therapy. Applicant would be expected to collaborate with current members of the fetal heart program, CFC and referring MFM providers to further develop/lead our fetal research program.
The applicant would be expected to participate in clinical service including (but not limited to): Perform/interpret transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiograms. Perform a single out-patient clinic on a weekly basis Provide limited periods of in-patient and/or consult service coverage Participate in all HI clinical and management conferences Perform teaching and instruction commensurate with the training mission of the HI/Institution Participate and contribute to relevant Quality Assurance/Process Improvement programs within the scope of practice
Contribute to/Lead on-going active research within the fetal heart program/imaging department with dedicated time set aside for research activities
