Lucile Packard Children’s hospital at Stanford University-Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is currently recruiting experienced full-time, or part-time pediatric hospitalists to cover a local community hospital in Watsonville, CA. Appointments will be made at the Clinical Instructor/Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor rank within the Clinician Educator Line. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The major criterion for appointment, reappointment and promotion for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Responsibilities include coverage of a 5 bed pediatric ward, 10 bed level 2 NICU (with back-up Neonatologist available 24/7), attending high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, newborn nursery, and pediatric consultations in the ER. The ideal candidate will have an active California medical license and should have recent delivery room/NICU experience and PALS/NRP certification. We serve a large Spanish-speaking and migrant population. While bilingual experience is welcomed, it is not necessary to apply for this position.
Watsonville Community Hospital is located in the Pajaro Valley near the central coast between Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel Valley and has served this community since 1895. This family friendly area, is nearby the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Capitola Beach and Monterey Bay Aquarium. Excellent outdoor activities are abundant with nearby hiking and bike trails, easy access to the coast and the Santa Cruz mountains. With close proximity to some of the best regional and state parks in the country, including Yosemite National Park and Big Sur are within 3-4 hour drive.
