Division Chief for Pediatric Hospital Medicine University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital
The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics and Seattle's Children's Hospital are seeking a pediatric academic physician with a national reputation to lead a large division and academic program in the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM).
The Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, includes clinical services located at the Seattle Children's Hospital Main Campus and at four Regional Community Hospitals across the Puget Sound.
In addition to providing inpatient care to infants, children and adolescents across these sites, Division faculty also actively engage in medical student and pediatric resident education, quality improvement and safety work, informatics, as well as local, regional, and national advocacy for children. Faculty also conduct high-impact health services, clinical and translational research involving severe and/or prevalent pediatric conditions encountered in tertiary children's and community hospital settings. Examples include the care of children with medical complexity, the provision of high-value care, the management of common respiratory illnesses, and the care of infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome.
Seattle Children's Research Institute offers state-of-the-art resources and facilities to Division faculty for conducting research. The Division was recently approved to develop a PHM fellowship program with the inaugural fellow beginning in July of 2020.
The successful applicant will supervise the provision of clinical care in all programs, as well as the training of students, residents, and fellows in both inpatient and research settings.
Appointment as full-time Associate Professor (without tenure due to funding) or Professor (without tenure due to funding) of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, School of Medicine, will be commensurate with experience, training and achievement. This is a 12-month service period position. The anticipated start date is Fall/Winter of 2020.
The successful candidate for the Division Chief of Hospital Medicine should be a nationally-respected pediatric hospitalist, have strong administrative and leadership skills, and a track record for successfully mentoring junior faculty in their scholarly pursuits including support and advocacy of research programs.
The successful candidate will hold an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible in pediatric hospital medicine.
