The Department of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is actively seeking a board certified Pediatric Surgeon to join the Pediatric Surgery Division. This partner would be based at Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW) in Springdale, AR along with one other member of the division.
The successful applicant will join a division with 6 surgeons in a well-established, exciting team, and must have a strong interest in clinical practice and a demonstrated interest in research, education, and training. The ideal applicant should have a desire to continue the development and growth of a broad-based pediatric surgery practice at ACNW, the area’s only free-standing children’s hospital. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility and ingenuity in building an academically-focused practice, incorporating the education and training of medical students and residents, with the opportunity to partner with the state’s flagship undergraduate institution in research endeavors. Additionally, the partner will have the opportunity to participate in the training of pediatric surgical fellows at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Arkansas Children’s is a two-hospital system that is the primary provider of pediatric care in the state. Arkansas Children’s Northwest, open since early 2018, is a state-designated Level IV pediatric trauma center with 24 inpatient beds, 5 ORs, outpatient clinics, radiology and a full-service emergency department staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians. The hospital culture is energetic and collaborative, and there is a staged plan for hospital expansion. The community in Northwest Arkansas is vibrant and diverse, offering numerous amenities and activities for a wide variety of interests.
Requirements MD specializing in Pediatric Surgery is required. Must be board certified in General Surgery. Fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery is required.
Candidate is required to have or be eligible for an Arkansas Medical License. Board Certification in Surgery through the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent. Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.
