Averaging approximately 5500 deliveries per year, this is a fast paced environment. BUMCP is accredited by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a Level 3 Center which certifies that we are qualified to take care of the most high risk patient population. The WIS department at BUMCP consists of OB Triage, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum and GYN/Oncology. We are well known for our specialty programs for higher order multiples, placenta accreta management and OB critical care. Throughout the WIS department, there is excellent collaboration between nursing and physicians with quality patient care serving as our focus. Our patient experience scores are among the highest at BUMCP. We are a Magnet facility and the WIS department has been highlighted in many examples for our Magnet redesignations. Our leadership team consists of a Nursing Director, three RN Senior managers, a high risk obstetrics program manager and a total of 14 RN managers. There is always a senior leader on-call 24/7 and there is usually in house management coverage 24/7 as well. In addition to the leadership team, we have a Clinical Nurse Specialist, an RN educator and lactation consultant coverage almost 24/7 to provide support for both the staff and our patients. As an academic medical center, we are actively involved in research, EBP and process improvement. Teaching and training students and new employees is an essential part of our department. The Postpartum unit provides multidisciplinary obstetrical care to low and high risk postpartum patients and normal newborns. There are 40 postpartum private rooms available and 11 Level 1 nursery beds. Inpatient services are available 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. These services are provided to adolescents, adult females with and without complicating medical conditions. We provide couplet care and encourage family bonding. Patient education and lactation support are a major focus in the postpartum area. The average RN assignment would consist of 6- 8 total patients (depending on acuity) which would be a combination of Moms & babies. Newborns with minor complications will be cared for in postpartum or in the nursery depending on diagnosis, acuity and level of observation required. This position is for a FULL-TIME Night Shift opening. The hours will be from 7:00pm - 7:30am for 3 shifts per week which will include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. You will also have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
