Chief Certified Nurse Midwife Opportunity

Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate, is seeking a Chief Certified Nurse Midwife to lead our midwifery division in western Massachusetts.

Position Highlights:

• Lead growth initiatives for our division of CNMs at Baystate Medical Center, which consists of:
• Baystate Midwifery and Women’s Health: 30 year old practice with 14 CNMs practicing full scope midwifery, 8,000 outpatient visits, 400 births annually.
• Midwifery Triage Practice: 6 CNMs managing urgent ob/gyn issues alongside our attending physicians, residents and medical students.
• Midwifery Ob Team: 4 senior CNMs who supervise residents caring for laboring women.
• Baystate Midwifery Education Program: One of 38 accredited CNM education programs in the country. Celebrating its 30th year, the Program has graduated over 100 CNMs.  CNMs in the Division have the opportunity for a joint faculty position for both classroom and clinical teaching with UMMS.
• Deliver patient-centered care to patients with diverse clinical needs. The division has been recognized nationally as a model of collaborative practice between CNMs and physicians, and for developing the role of CNMs as laborists. Many of the CNMs in the division have expanded practice in many areas, such as ultrasound, circumcision, colposcopy, and pelvic pain.
• The hospital is a Level 3 Perinatal Center, and the Obstetric Service conducts approximately 4,300 births a year, 20% of which are attended by midwives. Enjoy strong collaboration from Director of Advanced Practice Providers and our subspecialty programs in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Family Planning, Pediatric and Adolescent gynecology and General Obstetrics and Gynecology. 
• The department and the division are dedicated to addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health, bias in healthcare, health equity, and providing evidence-based care alongside partnering with patients and families for shared decision-making.

Qualifications: 

• ACNM/AMCB board certified.
• 5+ years’ CNM experience with evidence of progressive management/leadership responsibilities.
• Solid understanding of midwifery and physician collaboration, including program development; as well as a track record of business acumen, strategic initiative, financial management, change management and practice management.
• Faculty experience and activities with professional organizations on a state/national level are a plus.
• Strong commitment to collaboration, courage, quality and lifelong learning.
