Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is looking for a Surgical Services Pre-op/PACU/Stage 2Registered Nurse in beautiful Fairbanks, Alaska. The Perianesthesia unit is comprised of Pre-Op and PACU Phase I and II. PACU is an 12 bed unit located in our recently built state-of-the-art Surgery Center and boasts seven new operating suites with cutting edge technology. The dynamic Peri-Operative Department team provides care to patients of all surgical specialties of all ages from neonates through geriatrics (excluding neuro and cardiac) and averages 22 cases per day. The staff in the Perianethesia unit is a highly engaged team who value commitment and teamwork in the department. Extensive orientation program developed using policy and the ASPAN (American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses) standards and Competency Based Orientation. The successful Registered Nurse candidate will have a minimum of 2-years experience in Med/Surg and preferred experience in Perianesthesia and/or critical care. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska RN license. Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associates degree in nursing. BLS certification is required. May require ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education based on area of practice. Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem solving skills. Also requires the ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
