In our 3E Medical Surgical unit, you will be caring for patients with multiple co-morbidities. This unit provides general medical care to adult and geriatric patient populations. You will work with a multitude of services such as but not limited to Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, nephrology and Hospitalists. As an overview, patients on this unit are able to be monitored by remote telemetry. You will work closely with our WOCNs (Wound Ostomy Care Nurses) and wound vacs. We also have patients needing heparin drips, blood transfusions, NG Tubes, Dobhoff Tubes, Peg Tubes just to name a few. This unit is a great place to learn dynamic nursing and time management. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
