The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Pediatrics seeks a Division Chief to lead and expand a Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics. Candidates should be board certified/board eligible in PHM and have a strong commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based medicine in teaching and practice. This full-time Pediatric Hospital Medicine position will provide and lead clinical care delivery in our new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. This 10 story, 650,000 square foot, facility which opened in February 2020 boasts 2 acute care med-surg floors with sweeping views of the Ashley River and historic Charleston from every room. Candidates will work along-side an established group of faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows. The ideal candidate would lead expansion of our PHM service in the new children’s hospital, and further support and develop a cadre of strong clinical faculty to deliver care on the medical/surgical units. Additionally, candidates with experience in quality improvement project development and leadership will be of high interest to develop and refine new and innovative care processes in this state-of-the-art hospital. The PHM program has a newly approved ACGME fellowship with two slots open each year. The Division is academically productive and involved in local and national research teams. Opportunities to strategically develop community based PHM services also exist. The Division has a strong track record supporting career development both locally and nationally.
