The Department of Pediatrics and UNC Children’s Hospital is recruiting a pediatric palliative care physician to work on our Supportive Care Team and with the Complex Care Program.
The Children’s Supportive Care Team is a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary consultation service that provides inpatient and outpatient care for children and families facing life-limiting illnesses. A ‘whole-person’ approach is emphasized in delivery of palliative care throughout the course of illness. The Complex Care Program provides outpatient care for children with broad based medical complexity and has been a leader in incorporating social determinants of health into medical care for those children. We seek to also build the inpatient consultation service and other care modalities such as video visits. Leadership roles in parts of the program available for qualified applicants.
Specific requirements for competitive applicants include being board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and have experience caring for children with medical complexity. UNC is committed to creating a diverse faculty who represent the people of the state and applicants from groups under-represented in medicine are especially encouraged to apply.
The Complex Care Program, and this position, will be located in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM). The GPAM division is one of the largest divisions in the Department and includes primary care, a diagnostic clinic, and specialty care including Adolescent Medicine, Child Abuse Pediatrics, Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics and other unique clinical expertise. The division has a nationally-known and productive research program and faculty in addition to a long record of teaching excellence. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina is an attractive place to live and work with great climate, schools, and both mountains and beach within a day drive.
