About MSU College of Human Medicine Division of Public Health
In January 2016, Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital formed the Pediatric Public Health Initiative (PPHI) to address the Flint community’s population-wide crisis and help all Flint children grow up healthy and strong. PPHI is divided into five work teams: Child and Health Development, Nutrition, Exposure Assessment, Health Informatics, and Child Health Policy and Advocacy. These teams work closely with the PPHI Parent Partner Group and the PPHI Flint Kids Advisory Group. MISSION: To improve outcomes of Flint children. VISION: Through community and clinical programs, childhood health policy and advocacy, and robust evaluation, the Pediatric Public Health Initiative is a Center of Excellence mitigating the impact of the Flint Water Crisis and serving as a national resource for best practices.
