The Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo (UB), Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Division Chief of Critical Care. The Division of Pediatric Critical Care has an outstanding history of innovative medical care, academic leadership, scholarly activity and academic teaching. The Alfiero Family Pediatric Critical Care Unit, located in the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital, is a 20-bed unit serving approximately 1,300 patients per year. As the only Pediatric ICU in the Western New York area and the sole pediatric level-1 trauma center, the unit is well equipped to care for a wide range of medical and surgical needs. The Division has an impactful teaching mission. There are 6 critical care Fellows in the 3-year ACGME-accredited program. An additional 60 medical house staff includes categorical pediatric residents, med-peds residents, pediatric neurology and emergency medicine residents. The Unit also employs 4 Advanced Practice Providers that work as part of the multi-disciplinary care team. The Division Chief is responsible for assuring excellence in clinical management, faculty development, quality initiative, research and educational productivity. The Chief works with department and hospital administration on divisional finance and strategic planning. Qualified candidates should have broad leadership experience, a record of academic achievement, exemplary clinical skills and have obtained an academic rank of associate or full professor. Candidates must be board certified in pediatric critical care and meet criteria for medical licensure in the state of New York. The position includes a faculty appointment at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Science, State University of New York at Buffalo.
