You will serve as a Physician (Pediatrics) in the Pediatric Department of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command San Diego California.

THIS IS A DHA. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain DOD civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the DOD.

Duties

• You will serve as an expert in the delivery of Pediatric Medical Care to patients from birth to young adulthood.
• You will perform pediatric care to include evaluations, review of medical records and family history, physical examinations, patient and family education, preventative counseling, disease treatment.
• You will apply new procedures in the evaluation and treatment of complex patient cases and conducts research for the advancement of the Pediatric program and for quality improvement to other providers and patients.
• You will perform emergency services or crisis intervention, including life-saving emergency procedures.
• You will provide advice by telephone and/ or in person to other physicians, non-physician providers, and other professional medical staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical problems.
• You will evaluate the care provided to patients, identifies opportunities to change the care delivered, advices on difficult or complex cases, and recommends corrective action when problems exist.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.
• Up-to-date immunizations/vaccinations and a seasonal influenza required.
• A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required.
• Possess and maintain a BLS Basic Life Support Certification
• Possess and maintain a PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
• Possess and maintain an ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
