Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville is a completely independent, partner owned practice with 16 physicians and 3 nurse practitioners. We have approximately 55,000 patient visits a year. We see patients every day of the week, and this availability is why we are so well subscribed in the greater Charlottesville area. We currently have 13 physicians who share call. Our “call doc” sees infants in the nursery at Martha Jefferson Hospital, and then sees patients in the office, and then sees the night clinic from 7-9pm. We always have a day off after our call shift. Our practice has an arrangement with Martha Jefferson Hospital to see not only our patients but other patients who give birth there. We take call for C sections and other emergent births. This arrangement plus our evening and weekend hours not only make us the busiest and most esteemed practice in Charlottesville, but it also makes our physicians very well paid, with salaries well into the top quartile of Pediatric salaries nationwide. We do not have a “buy in” for becoming partner at Pediatric Associates. Unlike some other practices, all physicians who are hired on the partner track are given an opportunity to join ...the partnership without a large costly payment, after 4 years of full time work. Our partners share not only a good salary, but they also share bonuses based on practice productivity. There are both employed physicians at Pediatric Associates, and also partners. Partners all work at least 3 days a week, must share equally in the “call” responsibilities .Partners have partner meetings once every 3 months. In addition, it is important to us that everyone’s voice is heard, and the great ideas of all staff and physicians are incorporated into the running of the practice. To facilitate this, we have meetings every Tuesday at lunch with all physicians who are able to attend, the Downtown Manager, and the Practice Manager. Pediatric Associates has a rich history, having been founded in 1971, and growing from one practice Downtown in Charlottesville into a thriving group of four practice sites- Downtown, West of downtown near Ivy and Crozet, North near Hollymead and the Airport, and East at Zions Crossroads. We serve a Fluvanna, Louisa, Greene, Albemarle, and Nelson Counties as well as Charlottesville city- all together an area with 250,000 people.
