The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist to join our Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. We are looking for candidates with a commitment to clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. We are looking for candidates in the CHS track to provide clinical care, teaching to medical students and residents and to participate in research endeavors/scholarly activities.

The UW Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising over 200 faculty in seventeen subspecialty divisions. The Department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting edge research and vigorous advocacy.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is a team oriented group that has a strong Pediatric Liver Transplant program. Our multi-disciplinary pediatric liver transplant team consists of a pediatric transplant hepatologist, a pediatric hepatology nurse practitioner, transplant surgeons, pediatric dietician, pediatric social worker (dedicated to solid organ transplant), a pediatric behavioral psychologist, transplant coordinators, pediatric liver transplant anesthesia and infectious disease. Our pediatric hepatology team offers care through specialized liver transplant and pediatric hepatology outpatient clinics at the freestanding American Family Children's Hospital and pediatric hepatology outreach is provided to areas within Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Our pediatric liver transplant program is an active registry site for SPLIT with support from the UW Transplant Center. We also have Pediatric FibroScan at the American Family Children's Hospital.

The University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics continues to be a leader among pediatric departments in federal research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR). The recently released 2021 rankings lists the Department of Pediatrics as No. 7 in the nation with $37.5 million in funding from the NIH. The department has continued to rise in national rankings of research dollars, up from No. 31 in 2012, and it has ranked in the top 13 for five years straight.

Responsibilities:

- Primarily provide clinical service to pediatric liver transplant and pediatric liver and GI patients, both in pediatric liver clinic and pediatric liver transplant clinics.
- To provide inpatient clinical care to pediatric gastrointestinal and liver patients, pediatric liver transplant patients
- Inpatient service is shared between all eight providers within the division.
- Provide pre and post-op care to pediatric liver transplant patients.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students and residents. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, and at the bedside.
- Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and the division. These pursuits can take many forms and will often be executed in conjunction with clinical activities, but are not limited to that venue.
- The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For those appointed to the CHS title track, academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise. Qualifications:

- Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology is required.
- Interest in academic medicine, involving teaching to a variety of learners is essential.
- Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
- Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank at the CHS Track that have been previously established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines. Appointment as Associate Professor or full Professor will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.

License/Certification:
- Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure.
- Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology (Certificate of Added Qualification) from the American Board of Pediatrics is required
- Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges
