The Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mount Sinai is seeking 1-2 pediatric hospitalists to join the growing Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The Kravis Children’s Hospital is ranked in 7 subspecialties by US News and World Report. Kravis has a long history of proving outstanding care for children, and has a distinguished tradition of excellence in clinical, translational, and basic biomedical research. Each year, the outstanding pediatric residency program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai hosts 25 PGY-1 positions, including Categorical Pediatrics, Medicine-Pediatrics, Triple Board (pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychiatry), Medical Genetics Pediatric Combined Program, and Pediatric Neurology. The Department sponsors 14 Pediatric Subspecialty fellowships including Adolescent Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Nephrology, Hematology-Oncology, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Pulmonology, and, of course, Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
Kravis Children’s Hospital, located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side is the primary site of inpatient care for children who live on the Upper East Side and in Harlem. Kravis is part of the Mount Sinai Health System, which includes 7 hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, as well as a large regional ambulatory footprint. Kravis has 2600 inpatient admissions per year, 40 med-surg beds, with a 15 bed PICU, 6 bed PCICU, 5 bed telemetry/EMU unit, Level III NICU, pediatric emergency department, and a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. Kravis is also a part of the Children’s Hospital Association Solutions for Patient Safety Network.
In July 2017, we began a Pediatric Hospital Medicine Program to provide outstanding inpatient care, expand clinical and translational research, and provide fellowship training. This program is looking to expand, and we are seeking a pediatric hospitalist to join our growing group of hospital medicine faculty members. The successful candidate would work with the Kravis Children’s Hospital Chief Medical Officer, Lindsey Douglas MD, MS and the Interim Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Joel Forman MD, to expand the program. Administrative responsibilities will include coordination and communication with other services and active involvement in inpatient quality and safety initiatives. Clinical responsibilities will include the provision of hospital care to pediatric inpatients; consultations and co-management of sub-specialty, surgical, and psychiatric pediatric patients; teaching fellows, residents, medical students, and academic/scholarly activities.
Candidates must have an MD/DO degree and BC/BE in Pediatrics. BC/BE in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred. We are seeking bright, independent physicians who are committed to an academic career in pediatric hospital medicine with the desire to contribute to the growth of an academic division. A variety of academic interests would be supported including translational research, biomedical and public health informatics, outcomes research, child advocacy, injury prevention, global health, environmental health, and quality improvement.
Pursuant to experience, leadership opportunities may be available including Unit Medical Director and Divisional and Children’s Hospital Quality and Safety positions. Mid-level, Associate Professor, and experienced pediatric hospitalists are encouraged to apply. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
Requirements:
1) Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited program
2) Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics
3) Board certified/eligible (via the practice pathway or as a graduate of an ACGME accredited PHM fellowship) in PHM preferred
3) New York State Medical License (or eligible)
4) Meet eligibility requirements for an appointment to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
