Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate, is seeking a full-time Child Abuse Physician and Family Advocacy Co-Medical Director to join our organization. Ideal candidate must be a Child Abuse Physician, or Physician with concentrated experience and expertise in child abuse diagnosis and management.
Position Highlights –
Baystate Family Advocacy Center (BFAC) is a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) serving children and families in Hampden County and surrounding areas in western Massachusetts. A proud member of the National Children’s Alliance, the Massachusetts Children’s Alliance, and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). BFAC is a division of Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, the regional medical center and the only accredited Children’s Hospital.
Serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary team including, physicians, medical social workers, psychiatrist/therapists, specialty child abuse nurses, technical and administrative staff in Massachusetts’ only hospital-based Child Advocacy Center.
Collaborate with our local Child Abuse Prevention Alliance of Hampden County (CAPA), which includes local law enforcement officers, district attorney, child protective services and victim advocates.
Receive the time and support needed to provide patient and family centric outpatient medical evaluations and care to infants, children, and youth with suspected child maltreatment, and to their non-abusive family.
Inpatient and ED consults are handled by the Child Abuse Physician in collaboration with the various hospitalists, ED, and PICU physicians and hospital social workers.
Guide the development of the next generation of physicians; teaching resident, and medical students with a faculty appointment at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School - Baystate.
Time and opportunity to pursue research and other scholarly activities and develop new, value-added services in our general pediatric and pediatric sub-specialty practices.
