Position Description
The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Emergency Medicine, seeks full-time Clinical Associates for renewable two-year terms to serve as pediatricians in our Pediatric Level I Trauma accredited emergency room at The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. We especially welcome collaborative physicians who will be positioned to succeed in a busy, dynamic environment and advance the clinical goals of the Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications.
UChicago Medicine is located on the main University campus in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Comer Children's Hospital is a state of the art free standing children's hospital within the medical complex. The Pediatric Emergency Room treats more than 35,000 patients per year and is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the south side of Chicago. The facility has 22 general exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two triage rooms and two trauma/resuscitation rooms. The Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is committed to patient care, medical education, clinical research, and community service. The section has a full accredited fellowship program and a nurse practitioner program. The program has active pediatrics, med/peds and emergency medicine residency programs, and precepts University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine medical students.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified and/or Board eligible in Pediatrics.
