Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center seeks an experienced, BC/BE pediatric hematologist-oncologist to lead our Pediatric Cancer Care program. Neuro-oncology interest is a plus but not required.
Our practice provides both inpatient and outpatient care as part of our hospital-employed Pediatric Hematology-Oncology practice serving newborns through age 25. We are located at an office and treatment suite within our state-of-the-art Cancer Center. As a member of COG and CONNECS, we actively enroll patients in clinical trials and offer clinical trials through other regional consortiums. Our inpatient service is located on the State Street Campus of Eastern Maine Medical Center in both a dedicated pediatric and pediatric intensive care unit. We also participate with a Hemophilia Treatment Center and provide interval clinics as well.
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a 411-bed tertiary care center serving the 500,000 people living in the northern two-thirds of Maine. Our Pediatric Hematology-Oncology practice sees 200+ new patients each year. Annually, 20-30 begin infusion-based treatment for cancer diagnosis. Additionally, we are the “go-to” center for other outpatient pediatric infusion-based care. We have a family-centered approach to care and our physicians work closely with specially-trained nurses, social workers, child-life specialists, and patient advocate staff in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Our outpatient treatment setting is staffed by board-certified pharmacists.
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is the Regional Pediatric Specialty Center. Pediatric sub-specialty support includes surgery, gastroenterology, neurology, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology, genetics, developmental pediatrics, orthopedics, urology, and ophthalmology. In addition, we have dedicated pediatric intensivists offering pediatric sedation in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Radiation therapy is on-site.
