Combined Psychiatry-Family Medicine Residency Program Director
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking an academic psychiatrist for a clinician-educator position as the inaugural Program Director of Combined Psychiatry-Family Medicine Residency Program. Academic rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Psychiatry is commensurate with experience. This is a clinician-educator position and will be combined with clinical duties. An ideal candidate will have relevant experience including either combined training in both Psychiatry and Family Medicine, or Psychiatry training with related experience in collaborative care, consultation liaison, or other roles with Family Medicine, general medicine, or related combined training. Clinical duties can be additionally tailored to suit the candidate including clinical programs in Collaborative Care, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Psychosis, Mood/Anxiety, Neuropsychiatry, Neuromodulation, Women’s Mental Health and Reproductive Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Candidates with experience in educational leadership and a track record of scholarly activity are especially encouraged to apply. We strongly encourage applications from groups historically underrepresented in medicine and psychiatry, and those with a passion for social justice and serving the underserved. This position requires some overnight (phone) and weekend on-call duties. This is an exceptional academic opportunity for a clinician educator interested in developing their career by running a novel collaborative education program in an academic medical center. The Departments of Psychiatry and Family and Community Medicine share a strong relationship including collaborative care in Federally Qualified Health Care settings, educational, and scholarly initiatives. The combined residency initiative is a key next step in furthering the relationship. A joint appointment in the Department of Family and Community Medicine is available for qualified candidates.
Qualifications: The candidate must be a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent, and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) or AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited residency in Psychiatry. The candidate must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois and an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration license and must be board-certified or Board-eligible in psychiatry.
Application process: Applicants must apply online at http://jobs.uic.edu and reference Job Requisition #1027071. They should submit a CV and cover letter by November 8, 2024.
