RWJBarnabas Health is Seeking a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist
RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute (CINJ) of New Jersey are seeking a full-time Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Service Line. The physician will have faculty appointments at Rutgers, and will be Members of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Clinical and teaching responsibilities will be divided between The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and the Rutgers CINJ in New Brunswick.
At the Unterberg Children’s Hospital (3-4 days/week), the physician will provide outpatient care to children with cancer and blood disorders and provide both outpatient and inpatient hematology/oncology consultations. At the Rutgers CINJ (1-2 days/week), the physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care for children with cancer and blood disorders, will participate in Division meetings (e.g. tumor board and journal club). Inpatient service in New Brunswick, at the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital, will be approximately six weeks per year. With pediatric residents and medical students rotating throughout both locations, this position also presents as an opportunity to mentor trainees and lead didactic sessions.

Successful candidates must be:
Fellowship-trained in pediatric hematology/oncology
ABP board certified (or board-eligible for graduating fellows)
Licensed in NJ or eligible for NJ licensure
Both experienced physicians and new fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply!

About The Valerie Fund Children’s Center, Monmouth Medical Center: The Valerie Fund Children’s Center is one of eight hospital-based programs in the tri-state area that provides treatment for children with cancer and blood disorders. Providing these services close to home keeps the child near other family members while ensuring that the care is at the cutting edge. Patients receive treatment on an outpatient basis from a team of specialists, including pediatric hematologists/oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, social workers, counselors and child life specialists. Among the Valerie Fund's services is red blood cell apheresis — a sophisticated exchange/transfusion of red blood cells for patients with sickle cell disease.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Service Line, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey: The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of subspecialists including physicians, nurses, social workers, and child life specialists who tend to all aspects of care for the patient and family. In addition, there are full-time teachers on staff, so children can stay current with their schoolwork while receiving treatment.
Rutgers Cancer Institute offers the most advanced approaches to cancer care and the treatment of blood disorders, using sophisticated techniques in diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Our program is a member of the National Cancer Institute supported Children's Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research and clinical trials.
Care is provided in a comfortable setting designed specifically for young children and adolescents, with laboratory, pharmacy and transfusion services on site. Patients who need to stay overnight are admitted to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Our pediatric hematologists/oncologists also provide care at The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, in Long Branch, New Jersey.
