Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Co-Director Cohen Children’s Heart Center at Northwell Health
Northwell Health is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our team as Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Co-Director of the Cohen Children’s Heart Center. This person will help lead the ongoing transformation of our historically excellent cardiac programs into our multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, Cohen Children’s Heart Center.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience performing pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery and will have proven leadership abilities. Pediatric cardiac surgery and pediatric heart transplantation are performed exclusively at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center (CCMC). Adult congenital cases are performed at North Shore University Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and CCMC. Candidates of any tenure will be considered, and they will be supported by our award-winning and collegial team of physicians at the Cohen Children’s Heart Center.

Demonstrates excellent clinical outcomes with complex neonatal surgery
Proficient with heart transplant, ECMO, and mechanical circulatory support
Over the past three years, we have embarked on this journey, which has encompassed: transitioning to a dedicated Cardiac Intensive Care team with front line APN staffing and a team of 6 Cardiac ICU attendings who provide In-House coverage for the CICU; fully developing a Ventricular Assist Device and Cardiac Transplantation program that is UNOS approved and has already received the needed New York State Certificate of Need and is expected to open during this calendar year; and rapidly expanding our ACHD team to spread across our large health system. Our current team includes 2 pediatric cardiac surgeons, over 30 pediatric cardiologists providing the entire spectrum of cardiac care including 2 Interventionalists, 2 EP clinicians, a full team of cardiac imagers providing excellence in all imaging modalities and dedicated cardiac anesthesiologists and perfusionists.
Northwell Health is strongly committed to this program in investing the resources need to assure its ongoing success, including a dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit which is in the final design phase. This role includes the opportunity for research, advocacy and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty appointment is at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and clinical rank will be commensurate with experience. The position will help oversee the growth and development of these programs and with the support and partnership from executive leadership at Cohen Children’s Medical Center and Northwell Health.
