Because children deserve the best care close to home, UP set out to revolutionize pediatric emergency care. Founded by pediatric emergency medicine physicians in 2019, UP is the first network of specialized pediatric emergency centres outside of a hospital and close to home in Quebec. Thanks to an innovative vision and exceptional multi-disciplinary team, we have integrated within the public network to provide children and teens with access to quality care, with a hospital-level technical platform.

UP centre for pediatric emergencies and specialized care was designed to:

• Decongest hospitals 
• Deliver swift, quality pediatric emergency and ambulatory care 
• Be mentors with a multidisciplinary training environment
• Actively integrate into the public health system

Our clinical infrastructure (i.e. technical platform) includes on-site radiology (X-ray, ultrasound, POCUS, CT Scan, MRI), point of care testing (capillary blood gas, blood tests, catheter urinalysis), ability to manage acute and ambulatory presentations (nebulization, IV/IM medication, resuscitation, medical day services) and injuries (sutures, casting, procedural sedation with inhaled nitrous oxide, fracture reductions) as well as clinical pathways for direct-to-hospital admissions - all supported by a wireless, mobile, and paperless information system in a modern, bright environment.

Our physicians have the opportunity develop academic programs, train residents of all levels, as well as nurse practitioners. Requirements for continuing medical education credits are met entirely through our accredited inter-professional / in-situ simulations, weekly multi-disciplinary rounds, quality improvement and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) programs to name a few. 

UP is looking for 3 doctors who aspire to challenge the status quo and pave the way for a new type of pediatric service in Quebec, meeting the acute care and ambulatory needs of children and teenagers.

• Pediatricians willing to bring their expertise into the community
• Pediatric emergency doctors aspiring to revolutionize care in an out-of-hospital setting with no overnights
• Pediatric sub-specialists wanting to diversify their practice and offer specialized services in the community

Qualifications: 

• Board certified physicians, eligible for certification with the Collège de Médecins du Quebec (CMQ)
• Willing to achieve French language proficiency with our support

Compensation: 

• Compensation is fee-for-service as per the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (median income for physicians in our province is 450 000 $)
