The Alaska Native Medical Center is a tribally owned and operated non-profit health care center that provides all-ages services to Alaska Native and American Indian people of the greater Anchorage Service Area and is the primary referral center for complex and high acuity pediatrics care and high-risk pregnancies and deliveries within the Alaska Tribal Health System.
Pediatric Hospitalists at ANMC care for children and young adults in a thoughtfully and beautifully designed 19-bed pediatrics unit, newborns and infants in a 12-bed Level 2 NICU (with Level 3 NICU/neonatology services close by), and newborns in a 17-bed well-baby nursery. We also attend high-risk deliveries, run an infusions program, support our surgical and sub-surgical colleagues with medical consultations, participate in the hospital’s Level 2 Trauma program, support emergency services and statewide regional hospital colleagues with consultations, in addition to 24/7 in-house coverage of the above services and other duties as assigned.
Additional information: Our group currently includes 17 physicians and four pediatric nurse practitioners. More than 1,500 babies are delivered annually at ANMC. ANMC is a Certified Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center. ANMC has a Pediatric Intensivist group available 24/7. Most pediatric subspecialties are available locally, either in-person or by phone.
Physicians in the Pediatric Hospital Medicine division work a variety of daytime and nighttime shifts, averaging 40 hours of work per week. We value providing safe and high-quality care, while striving for healthy work-life integration. Our environment is fast-paced and best suited for Pediatric Hospitalists who enjoy work that is challenging and rewarding. We welcome applicants with all levels of experience to apply. Our scope of practice is broad, and we will train and support new colleagues who are willing to add to their skillsets. Our organization has growth opportunities. We do not require Pediatric Hospital Medicine board certification.
