Description
Nemours Childrens Health is seeking a Physical Therapist (CASUAL/PRN), to join our team in Milford, Delaware.This is a PRN position to provide coverage as needed in our outpatient setting. The role is needed to help cover for planned PTO, unplanned call-outs, and to support patient care needs when the census is high. Coverage is for weekdays only. The need and hours per week will vary.
This is a great opportunity to grow your career and join a dynamic team in our new multi-disciplinary clinic shared with Nemours Specialty and Primary Care. We provide evaluation and treatment for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses including post-op, sports injuries, and neurodevelopmental disorders, and ranging in age from birth to 18. We are also an early intervention partner with Birth to Three program, providing clinic-based services.
Provides physical therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Demonstrates competency in pediatric physical therapy as per department clinical competencies.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all patients birth-18
- Able to provide physical therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required. DPT is entry level.
- Minimum of 3-6 months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
- State of Delaware Physical Therapist License required upon hire.
- A second license is recommended.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
- Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA, State PT Assoc.) preferred.

About the Team
At Nemours, weve developed a large, expansive network of rehabilitation professionals (including physical, occupational and speech therapists, audiologists and rehabilitation engineers) who work to help children and teens move through all phases of recovery from acute injury and developmental needs to wellness programming.
We use an integrated approach to care, starting with our strong partnerships with Nemours primary care and physician specialists.
The Therapeutic & Rehabilitative Services department offers:
- inpatient services acute care and comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation
- outpatient services single-service therapy, comprehensive therapy day programming, wellness programming
- specialty programming aquatics, seating and mobility, augmentative communication, vestibular rehabilitation, splinting/wound care, Interactive Metronome, feeding and swallowing, audio verbal therapy, integrative listening (ILS), sports medicine, concussion rehabilitation
