Company Overview
Mee Memorial Healthcare System is a comprehensive, community-focused healthcare provider serving South Monterey County, California. Our system includes a full-service acute care hospital with emergency services, an inpatient program with 15 licensed beds, and general surgery capabilities. The hospital features a dedicated operating room suite with three OR bays, a 40-bed skilled nursing facility, and a hospitalist program covering adult medicine, pediatrics, and surgical services.
Beyond the hospital, Mee Memorial operates three rural health clinics to provide high-quality, accessible primary and specialty care:
Children’s Health & Wellness Center (King City, CA) – A pediatrics-focused clinic dedicated to the health and well-being of children in the region.
King City Multispecialty Clinic – A high-volume clinic seeing 100-200 patients daily, offering internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and contracted specialty care, including podiatry, OB/GYN, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and pain medicine.
Albert and Donna Oliveira Clinic (Greenfield, CA) – A primary and multispecialty care clinic with a similar daily patient volume, expanding access to care for the Greenfield community.
The healthcare system directly employs primary care providers in family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics, with in-clinic point-of-care labs and access to a full suite of laboratory and radiology services through the hospital.
Company History
Mee Memorial Healthcare System has been a cornerstone of South Monterey County since its establishment in 1962. The hospital was named in honor of rancher George L. Mee, following a generous donation from his family that significantly contributed to its founding. The original facility was built on land donated by Dr. L.M. Andrus, who also served on the inaugural board of directors. It remains an independent nonprofit hospital system.
Over the decades, Mee Memorial has expanded to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. In 2001, a new hospital building was completed adjacent to the original 1960s structure, serving as the core of the healthcare system. Further developments in 2007 included the completion of the hospital's second floor to include additional acute care and skilled nursing beds. A complete rennovation of the Emergency Department and Radiology is underway with expected completion in late 2025.
Today, Mee Memorial Healthcare System encompasses a comprehensive network of services, including an acute care hospital with emergency services, an inpatient program with 15 licensed beds for hospitalist adult medicine, pediatrics, and general surgery, an operating suite with three OR bays, and a 40-bed skilled nursing facility. The system also operates three rural health clinics: the Children's Health and Wellness Center in King City, the main King City multispecialty clinic, and the Albert and Donna Oliveira Clinic in Greenfield. These clinics collectively handle a yearly volume of 80,000+ patient encounters and offer a range of services, including primary care in internal medicine, family practice, and pediatrics, as well as contracted specialty care in podiatry, OB/GYN, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and pain medicine.
Throughout its history, Mee Memorial has remained committed to providing culturally sensitive and patient-centered healthcare, continually evolving to serve the diverse needs of the rural communities in South Monterey County.
