Children’s National Hospital is currently seeking a Neonatologist to serve as the Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at VHC Health in Arlington, VA. The Medical Director should be dedicated to exceptional clinical care and have interests in administration, quality, and education. The NICU at VHC offers comprehensive care for newborns from 22 weeks through full term in a single room environment.
- Level III NICU with 28 beds, ~450 annual admissions
- High risk MFM and Perinatal center with wide catchment area and approximately 4,500 annual deliveries
- Advanced therapies: high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide
- Remote pediatric subspecialty support through Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC.
- Mature EPIC build with physician builders as part of neonatology team
- Busy clinical service with 6 other Neonatologists, and two support NP/PA positions
Responsibilities include designing clinical protocols, managing staffing and quality metrics (including Vermont Oxford Network), admitting patients from the labor and delivery and occasional outside transfer. Daily clinical responsibilities include rounding on patients in the NICU, performing prenatal consults as requested by obstetric colleagues. The position requires the ability to climb a flight of stairs. Shifts are all in-house 8-13 hours per day with in-house night call.
Qualifications
Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
Board certification in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine
Virginia state medical license
5+ years of clinical experience
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with employee experience and rank. Academic positions are done jointly with the George Washington School of Medicine.
