Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital is seeking Clinical Instructor/Nurse Practitioner faculty for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The position will be full-time, faculty, academic at the Clinical Instructor level. Responsibilities: The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care to patients in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Stony Brook Children's in collaboration with an Attending Physician. Other responsibilities include: will provide education to staff nurses; will confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, ally fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care; will ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures; will contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; will maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner. NYS NP license or eligible for NYS NP license and certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner. At least one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics is required. Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to carry out assignments independently also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
