The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) seeks a heart failure/transplantation & pulmonary hypertension specialist, at any professorial level, to join its growing and dynamic program.
Candidates should be board-certified or eligible in pediatric cardiology, or pediatric critical care medicine, with advanced training and/or expertise in management of pediatric heart failure/transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. Those with established clinical and academic records are preferred. Clinical and research leadership opportunities are available, commensurate with the experience of the applicant. The successful applicant will join our Heart Center team which currently includes 50 attending physicians and 33 advanced practice providers. The Heart Center performs over 500 cardiac surgical procedures yearly, 700 cardiac catheterizations and 18,000 outpatient visits and is a national leader in adult congenital cardiology. Our Pediatric & Adult Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PAACT) Program is supported by 5 physicians, 3 APN and 3 RN heart failure/transplant coordinators, and 1 VAD coordinator). They oversee 8-12 heart transplants annually, 8-15 VADs annually, with active research involvement and leadership in ACTION and PHTS. Our Pulmonary Hypertension program is supported currently by multiple physicians, including several PAACT faculty, as well as Dr. Robert Gajarski, in addition to 2 full time APN and RN patients. Excluding patients on sildenafil/tadalafil, they support more than 50 patients on multiple PH agents, including a robust home Remodulin program. Other comprehensive services include a single ventricle program, blood conservation strategies, robust ECMO and lung-assist device programs, lymphatic interventions, and close collaboration with the Center for Genomics and Center for Gene Therapy. The Neonatology program at NCH is similarly robust, with over 300 beds and a dedicated bronchopulmonary dysplasia unit.
The applicant will be expected to mentor junior faculty and fellows. The program includes advanced (4th year) fellowships in Advanced Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging, Interventional Cardiology, and Heart Failure/ Transplant to complement the core pediatric cardiology and combined pediatric-adult cardiology fellowship programs.
Academic productivity is an expectation. Our program is closely partnered with the Center for Cardiovascular Research which provides infrastructure to support the clinical research enterprise, with opportunities to collaborate with additional research centers within the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at NCH. Research opportunities include engaging in basic science population-based studies, and research-based education or quality improvement initiatives.
