The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital seeks faculty for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Clinical Assistant Professor Level. Requirements include MD/DO degree, Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics, eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduate teaching, research and administrative experience. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as an Attending Physician and will provide direct care to patients in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. Other responsibilities include: Will provide education of staff nurses; will confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care; ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures; contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services. The selected incumbent will be responsible for teaching and supervising students and residents, contributing to successful research programs in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and performing administrative assignments. The clinical services of Stony Brook Children's serve the nearly 500,000 children of Suffolk County, New York and boast the following resources: The only dedicated, tertiary-care Long Island Children's Hospital located outside of New York City. Stony Brook Children's opened its new Children's Hospital in November 2019. This space is part of Stony Brook Medicine's $423 million expansion project, which also includes a Medical and Research Translation (MART) building 104 Bed Children's Hospital with 10-bed Med-Surg PICU featuring large individual rooms, a bariatric room, and capacity for 2 additional step-down beds The dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department sees 27,000 patients annually in 16 Patient care spaces. Undergoing major expansion to 30 patient care spaces including 2 resuscitation rooms, 20 private rooms, and 8 additional fast track spaces (projected for late 2027) ACS Verified Level 1 Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center PEM Fellowship with 1 fellow per year Stony Brook Children's: 110 person Pediatrics faculty covering all Pediatric Subspecialties including Adolescent Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse Pediatrics, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology. Pediatric Surgical Specialists in General Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, and Trauma as well as additional expertise in Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, and Oral-maxillofacial Surgery, and Renal Transplantation. Pediatric, Med/Peds, Emergency Medicine, and Child Neurology residency training programs. Rich research resources for laboratory, translational, and clinical research exist within the 20 clinical departments of the Medical School and the larger University. Competitive seed money support within the Department exists for junior investigators or mid-career investigators pursuing new directions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
- Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of New York.
