Requirements
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
Current Alabama medical license (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
Current DEA registration and Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate (or ability to obtain).
Current BLS certification; PALS certification preferred.
New graduates and experienced pediatricians are encouraged to apply.
Outpatient pediatric experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient pediatric care to infants, children, and adolescents, including preventive care, well-child visits, immunizations, developmental screenings, sports physicals, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, coordinate referrals to specialists as needed, and educate patients and families on preventive care, growth and development, nutrition, disease management, and safety.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health professionals, nursing staff, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based clinical practice, call coverage, and teaching opportunities with medical students, if desired.
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
Ability to manage approximately 30-35 patients per day in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Proficiency with electronic medical records; eClinicalWorks experience is preferred but not required.
Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the workday.
Ability to lift and position pediatric patients as needed.
Manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity necessary to perform patient examinations and procedures.
Ability to respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
