Description
Nemours is seeking a Senior Echocardiography Sonographer. The Senior Echocardiography Sonographer serves as a Health Care Professional with primary responsibility of patient focused echocardiography services providing high quality patient care.*** Opportunities are available in the Delaware Valley, Philadelphia Metro area and Eastern Maryland.***
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred
- Pediatric and/or Fetal Echocardiography Certification by the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); certification(s) required and must be in active status
- Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association required prior to start date
- Minimum of 7 years of pediatric and/or fetal echocardiography experience in an established congenital cardiothoracic surgery program (unless experience is only with fetal echocardiography)
- Extensive education, training, and experience in at least two of the following specialty areas: 3D echocardiography, Fetal echocardiography, Research echocardiography, Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance, Echocardiography education, Stress echocardiography, Adult congenital echocardiography
Essential Functions:
- Perform diagnostic transthoracic and/or fetal echocardiograms independently and/or with a physician (transesophageal, epicardial) following facility protocols in accordance with the guidelines and standards set by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) and the American Society of Echocardiography in a variety of settings including outpatient, satellite clinics, inpatient units, operating room, cardiac catheterization laboratory, etc.
- Obtain relevant clinical information and communicate with the attending physician(s) to identify imaging goals prior to and during echocardiographic examination
- Apply independent judgment and critical thinking to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical data are adequately captured during the echocardiographic examination
- Accurately and efficiently generate preliminary echocardiogram reports including relevant measurements, calculations, clinical documentation, post-processing, and appropriate billing/procedure codes
- Demonstrate proficiency with echocardiography equipment and computer skills, including echocardiography reporting software and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
- Assume responsibility for the safety of the patient during the echocardiographic examination and provide age and developmentally appropriate care
- Night/weekend and holiday call coverage, telemedicine or main campus, (coverage area to be determined by Echocardiography Lab Manager)
- Coverage of satellite locations as determined by clinical needs and Echocardiography Lab Manager
- Assist with the mentoring, education, and professional development of sonography staff, cardiology fellows, and sonography students
